While I have a lot of education under my belt, it is my life experiences that have truly instilled a sense of understanding others' struggles in a very real way. As a result, I am often seen as down to earth and easy to talk to, rather than someone who just has a lot of academic knowledge of psychology. As a solution-focused person, I find it much more useful to put information in a way that others can actually understand and feel confident in applying to their everyday lives rather than just using a lot of "psychobabble" or using a "nodding and smiling" approach. I never feel "better than" or see my clients as "flawed", rather I see them as brave for being willing to understand and address the issues that are blocking them. I find it unwise to assume that there is no need for therapy or "I can do it myself", especially when there has been much evidence to the contrary. I see my role as being a "mirror" to reflect back the "big picture" that I see, and as I connect with others, I can make links and connections that may have otherwise gone entirely unnoticed. Ultimately, I feel humbled that others trust me with their innermost thoughts and feelings and endeavor to honor them in their pursuit of healing and growth.
